Happy Birthday Luke!

Luke's 1st birthday was last Saturday. Daddy made Luke a wonderful spaghetti din-din with salad. This was Luke's first time to have spaghetti and he LOVED it!
For dessert, Jason made an excellent baseball cake. It was a white cake with raspberry jam filling. Unfortunately, after dessert, Luke had a horrible allergic reaction. So, no more cake for Luke until his next b-day. I think he'll survive. He still had a blast opening his presents (see the next post for the opening of presents).

Hot day, hard sleeper

Luke fell asleep in his high chair while eating dinner. We had a long day in the heat... our car broke down at the grocery store, Jason called AAA (thanks Mom & Dad for the membership!) Luke and I bummed a ride home with Grandma Susie (Luke's NY grandparents: Bob & Susan) while Jason stuck around waiting for the tow truck. At the end of the day; the car made it to the service department before the Hudson Valley Volvo closed AND I was 2 1/2 hours late to work. Not to mention it was the hottest day yet in our NY history! Are we having fun yet?!?
Picture of the day, 7/18/05

This was actually taken on Monday. Luke is hanging out in his PJ's on the stairs. He loves to climb the stairs by himself.
A few weeks ago, he was trying to grab at the wires on the back of the computers while he was climbing. I told him that it was not for babies to touch and he said, clear as day, "I want to touch". What a genius!

Extreme Makeover: Luke's Room

Next up, a new tent. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Croffut! We've dubbed it his reading tent. Inside, we placed a new chair we bought today. So far he climbs on the chair but hasn't quite figured out how to sit down; I'm sure he'll get there soon. You'll also notice his guard puppy standing watch.
Don't worry, Carrie and I still have some presents left for him to open on Saturday.
Rest In Peace Great Great Grandma

I just received a call from my mom telling me that Great Grandma passed away this evening at 6:00. What a wonderful and talented woman (ask me later about her escapades in the nursing home) and I am so glad that we were able to see her last weekend. AND I am even happier that she is in a better place.
Good-bye Great Great Grandma, I'm glad that I was able to meet you! -Luke

Luke Meets His Great Great Grandma!

Jason, Luke and I drove down to Havre de Grace, MD to go see my Great Grandma. She is recovering from pneumonia but it damaged her throat, she cannot swallow. The Dr. has said that it is time to pay our final respects; she has not had food or water for two whole weeks-- BUT she's still hanging on! Did I mention that she is 97?!?!
We decided to take advantage of my WHOLE day off during Jason's summer break, so we drove down to MD last night and came home tonight. I last saw my Great Grandma when I was four.
Great Gram absolutely LOVED Luke! She was able to sit up holding her own head, look right at him and hold his hand. She even smiled! I am glad that we were blessed with the opportunity to visit her before she goes home to be with the Lord.

Pic of the Day, 7/7/05

Today's photo is from the "Classic Luke" collection and dates from February 11th. This was before he was very mobile, and as you can tell, he's slimmed down quite a bit since then. I've always loved this picture, though. I set him down to get my shoes on for our morning walk, and decided he was too cute not to take a picture.

Opening Day 2005

Carrie's had her fun with these first few pictures, but there are a few I wanted to post as well. The first is from early April, before we left for New York, when Luke and I went to Safeco Field for M's opening day. Please disregard my ridiculous beard.
The other is over at your right, at the top of the sidebar, taken when Luke was just minutes old.
Aloha!

Luke was a BIG favorite among the Asian tourists. I swear, if I turned my head for one minute, I think that he might have ended up in Shanghai (without my consent)!
We spent a morning at the Arizona Memorial and ran into some of Luke's greatest fans. I called Jason and told him that his son got Lei'd in Hawaii by a tourist.
Meet Luke!
So, you've all met Luke before, but this is his first blog. We hope you like it!
I am first posting pictures of our trip to Hawaii (a long and arduous trip, but we survived). Then I will post pictures of Luke's 11 month b-day.
Our trip to Hawaii was Luke's first encounter with the beach. He *LOVED* the sand! Here is Luke sitting on Waikiki enjoying his new sand pail.
Let's not forget that Luke turns 1 on July 23, 2005!
Enjoy!
